What's Next For Me?

When I run into people that I don't often see, I am always asked things like "What are you up to these days?," "Where are you going next?," and "What is your plan?" This is a post that I have been wanting to write for a while, but have stayed away from, mostly because I hadn't received any official news on anything. But now it's time to share what I've had up my sleeve.

1. I'm moving to South Korea
For the past six months, I have been researching and planning for my next big move. I filled out various applications for a number of programs and, now that I have a contract, I can now say with certainty that I am moving to South Korea for a year to teach English! Michael will be doing the same thing with the same program. Though we don't have an official day of departure, we are thinking that we should be flying out in the third week of September. We don't know exactly which city we will be living in. We don't even know what age group we will be teaching. (Both are things we will find out upon arrival.) What we do know is how much we will be getting paid and that we will end up somewhere in the Chungnam province (and that's really about it).

We will be somewhere within the red highlighted area.

To prepare, we had to gather several legal documents, take a 100-hour TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification class, and do a ton of waiting. To put that more into perspective, we got the ball rolling in January and we have just gotten confirmation of a position and contract in the last week. However, they still have us waiting on when to arrive by. But we're certainly getting there! And no, we're not worried about living so close to North Korea.

2. I have been interning with GoAbroad.com
In addition to all of the work I've been putting in toward going to Korea, I have also been putting in a lot of work creating videos for GoAbroad.com! I was hired in for three months, creating one minute videos on different topics involving international travel, from foreign language skills, to working and studying abroad! For these videos, I use a video library provided for me, as well as some of my own footage, to create videos that follow a visual script. Some of the scripts have been provided for me, others I am writing myself! Only one of my videos has been posted so far, which you can watch below!
